Salaams ! I think we have been in touch before. Wonderful site .... I am just completing a new documentary on Rumi ( www.rumi-turningecstatic.com) which I hope we will screen in Vancouver and LA. We already have a sponsor for Toronto, NY and San Francisco. My good friend Joseph Roberts is the Editor of Common Ground Magazine in Van. Perhaps we could keep in touch with you to see if you are interested in helping us with our first screening in Van, when we come to that point. Blessings, Tina Petrova

Dear Mr Shahiari, I must say that I really liked your translations of Rumi. In particualar, your translations are one of the only ones I have seen that you can actaully sing the persian and english translation to the same exact same rhythm. In this respect, I have recently written some music, setting your translations to the music, and has worked very well. Regards, Cameron.

Hello, I have read that some followers of Rumi (Dervishes) secretly tried to help the Armenians during the slaughters iof World War I. I would like to think that it is true, because Rumi seems a man of peace and profound wisdom. Does anyone know of the veracity of this rumor? Were there indeed secret missions to help the Christians?

well; this is a soo beautiful website .it deals with the thought of a very great mystic muslim called maywlana JJ Rumi.As far as i am concerned, i do always visit it though i hae remarked so many faults in the translation items. Before i had made a monograph about this very famous sufi as i am a sufi belonging to a very well known sufi sheikh called Sidi Hamsa.Perhaps poeple from all over do visit him each day to lean from him how to be peaceful and i love even with the insects of this so mysterious existance. yours youssef acim

Assalam. I was very impressed by these poems and I love Shams and Mevlana Rumi very very very much. The love of Allah which they had was really amazing and it touched my whole heart. When I read Rumi's books, I feel such nearness to Allah and so much pleasure of the heart that I feel my heart will explode. without ever seeing Shams, I love him so much, then when the Mevlana had seen him and lived with him, how much was he in love? Now I can understand. I convey my salaam to Shams and Mevlana Rumi. Thx a lot. May Allah's bleesings shower on these beautiful works.

although no translations can match the actual Farsi Ghazals of Mawlana Rumi, i was moved by the translation of the Diwan on your site......i come from a sufi background and Mawlana is an inspiration for our zikr sessions and we use his ghazals when playing Daf in our Qiyam (standing)Zikr dances....

Can someone tell me why there is a woman showing her bare chest in the pictures in the picture Gallery and how that represents the Sufi's? From what i understand, that sufism is portrayed as spirit of islam, in islam we don't have males and females congrgating together. The woman appears to be in some other pictures, does she bare any relevance. Still need to look at the site as i went straight to the picture gallery.
